About the position

About the position: SSAB’s strategy focuses strongly on developing advanced steel grades and supporting the green transformation. As a Product Developer, you will lead the development of new cold rolled products with an improved sustainability footprint, often acting as a project manager coordinating activities across multiple functions. You will work closely with production engineers, process specialists, and experts in design, joining, and forming.

Your work will include:

•Developing new steels in line with SSAB’s product development plans

•Improving existing products to ensure long-term competitiveness and customer satisfaction

•Supporting SSAB’s sustainability goals by creating steels that help customers achieve decarbonization targets

• Collaborating with research institutes and universities to stay at the forefront of steel innovation

•Providing expertise on material-related issues within the organization

Main responsibilities

• Develop new products according to annual product development plans.
• Improve existing products for enhanced performance and sustainability.
• Build and share knowledge internally and with strategic R&D partners.
• Support production and marketing with product-related expertise.

About You

• MSc or PhD in Materials Science or similar field.
• At least basic knowledge in the Swedish language and excellent English skills (written and spoken).
• Curious, high level of initiative and ability to take ownership of tasks and projects, driven, analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Experience in metal working, processing, forming and heat treatment of steel is an advantage.
